Prepare each piece
- Empty contents unless the mover has agreed otherwise.
- Photograph the assembled item and any existing marks.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for removable parts.
- Put fittings into a labelled bag and associate it clearly with the furniture.
Protect vulnerable corners and surfaces with suitable materials, avoiding adhesive directly on a finish that could be damaged. Secure doors or moving sections in a way that does not strain hinges. Some flat-pack furniture may not tolerate repeated dismantling well; explain its condition before the crew arrives.
At the destination, identify the final position before unloading the largest pieces. Keep walkways clear and assemble furniture on a suitable surface with the correct fittings.
