Record legal loading options, distance to the entrance, steps, gates, steep slopes and surface condition. Ask the local council or site manager about parking permissions or restrictions that apply to your address and date. Do not assume cones or a parked car create an authorised loading space.

- Confirm lift booking rules, operating hours and load limits.
- Establish how communal doors will be accessed without compromising security.
- Protect the route appropriately and keep it clear of boxes.
Obtain necessary permissions from the relevant owner, manager or authority. Share photos and measurements with the mover, noting anything still unconfirmed. On moving day, inspect the route for new obstacles before loading starts and agree a safe alternative if the planned access is unavailable.
